After a few ups and downs, a Black Widow movie is finally happening. Here is everything you need to know about the highly anticipated film.

Except for the fact that it will (obviously) feature Black Widow, there has yet to be an official announcement about who will wear the black body suit. In a report from Digital Spy, it is highly likely for actress Scarlet Johansson to play the leading role in the upcoming super-spy spin-off.

Johansson said that the Black Widow movie offers a lot of "opportunity" to mine its storyline. Not only does the character have rich origins story, but she also has dozens of places to go. The actress said that it is possible to bring her back to Russia, her motherland, or explore the infamous Widow programme.

According to the publication, an exciting addition to the very first spin-off is Sebastian Stan, who is known for his role as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. Like Johansson, he also has some few interesting ideas for the upcoming movie.

Stan said that Bucky taught Black Widow in the comics. For her, he is a teacher or a mentor. He is reportedly interested in a specific timeline, the Cold War. It is a setting that could stir the interest of viewers. And while he is hopeful of being part of the film, nothing is set on stone yet.

Interestingly, there are also rumors about Emma Watson joining the Black Widow cast. The Harry Potter actress could possibly be joining Johansson and Stan, though it is a large mountain of salt to climb.

In a report from That Hashtag Show, it appears that the "Beauty And The Beast" star is a favorite option for co-lead. The site claims that Watson is a premium choice for the role, but she is not the only one on the list. It could be Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures), Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family), and Dar Zuzovsky (Hostages).

As for the villain of the Black Widow, Andre Holland is the only resounding name. After all, the Moonlight breakout star reportedly auditioned for the role. But much like Watson, his inclusion is yet to be certain. The production team is believed to be interested in getting Alec Baldwin, Sebastian Koch, and Rachel Weisz.

It remains uncertain as to when Marvel Studios will bring the Black Widow movie to the big screen. Besides, the studio has been keeping any big announcements relating to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But perhaps as soon as Spider-Man: Far From Home is released, things might change. For now, the possible release window is between 2020 and 2022.
