Talks about Meghan Markle's alleged rift with her close friend Priyanka Chopra have been making headlines in the last few months. Reports suggested that their friendship seemed to be over since both celebrities have missed attending milestones in each other's personal lives.
Markle failed to attend Chopra's wedding to Nick Jonas last December. She couldn't fly to India because of her pregnancy, yet she was able to fly a few months later to New York for the baby shower arranged by her close friends.
Chopra allegedly felt slighted, so she decided not to attend Markle's shower, as per Page Six. The report stated that Chopra felt disrespected in her friendship with Markle.
But according to a source on Chopra's camp, there is no truth to the stories that the former Miss World queen felt hurt over Markle's decision to skip her wedding but fly to her baby shower. The alleged insider sources feeding tabloid stories have been omitting the real story.
The truth is that Chopra is still good friends with the Duchess of Sussex. According to TMZ, she had meetings in Los Angeles on the week of Markle's baby shower for a book deal she was trying to close.
Elle reported that Chopra and Jonas got to spend time with Markle and her husband Prince Harry in London last July. The former actress was reportedly happy for Chopra's then-upcoming wedding even if she wasn't in the actual event.
Markle and Chopra met during an Elle event for Women on Television in 2015 and from there, the two stars hit it off. At that time, both have also been working on their respective TV shows filming in Canada -- Suits for Markle and Quantico for Chopra -- so they got to spend and bond together after work.
Chopra said in previous interviews that she and Markle love food, fashion and things happening around the world. "That's what we bonded on-was how much we feel like we contribute to that as public people," Chopra said, as per E! Online.
The former Quantico star, on the other hand, doesn't make her friendship with a member of a royal family a big deal. But as the world has seen, the two stars share a real friendship that goes beyond what's written in the papers.
