Theresa May traveled Strasbourg in her final bid to strike a Brexit deal with Jean-Claude Juncker, the European Commission president. The British Prime Minister has until 10:30 p.m. today to find a Brexit compromise through face-to-face talks that is hoped to result in a breakthrough.
Likewise, with several hours left before the important vote tomorrow, the PM must hurriedly secure an agreement with EU. If not, she is facing a heavy defeat on voting over her Brexit deal that will proceed as scheduled for tomorrow.
As per The Guardian, the last-minute meeting was made possible after Theresa May called Jean-Claude Juncker early in the day. It was revealed that the PM has spoken with the EU president twice in the past 24 hours.
At the meeting, the prime minister and the EU leaders will attempt to come up with an agreement to finalize the Brexit deal. She is expected to arrive at 8 p.m. U.K. time, in Strasbourg.
While Theresa May is doing her best to save her Brexit deal, officials in Britain still fears that the two parties will not reach a deal. In the past weeks, the talks continue to fail so the concern over it is understandable.
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, relayed that Brussels offered something very significant during the talks the past weekend and Britain needs to decide whether to accept it or not.
"I think that a very important offer has been made to Britain and now it's up to Britain to respond to these offers," the chancellor told the press in Berlin.
In any case, the members of the parliament are set to vote on the Brexit deal on Tuesday and this is their second time to do so. If the plan will still be the same, it will mean another loss on May so the officials are voting to move the Brexit and block the possibility of no deal.
Meanwhile, as the fate of Brexit hangs in the air, Theresa May reportedly spent some time at the Westminster Abbey with Queen Elizabeth. The prime minister was also said to have read a passage in the Bible that seems to be sending a message for the Brexit.
As shared by the Daily Mail, before the congregation, Theresa May read the Bible verse: Corinthians 12: 14-26, "The body does not consist of one member but of many. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it."
