Following the success of the first season of The Chi, it's very reasonable the show will be renewed for a second season. The Chi season 2 will be airing on Showtime this coming spring, and as the release date has been already confirmed, here are the other things to expect on the second installment.

Created by Lena Waithe, the Chicago-based drama follows the story of several people who combat different challenges while living on the Southside of Chicago. So far, the official release date of The Chi season 2 has been revealed, it will be airing on April 7, at 10 PM on Showtime. The series will also be released on Sky Atlantic channel in the UK, though the release date is not yet announced.

As for the cast, Jason Mitchell will return as Brandon, a popular young man who's striving hard to make himself better and opens his own restaurant. Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine portrays the character of Ronnie, while Jacob Latimore is Emmet, a sneaker-obsessed teenager. Meanwhile, Alex Hibbert plays Kevin, a good kid who comes from a loving household but found himself in serious trouble. Other cast members expected to return in The Chi season 2 include Yolonda Ross as Jada, Tiffany Boone as Jerrika, Armando Riesco as Detective Cruz, Byron Bowers as Meldrick, and Sonja Sohn as Laverne.

Fans can expect more happenings on the upcoming season of The Chi, and following the release of its trailer, many anticipate the second installment will also be great just like the first season. The trailer follows a bunch of characters who are facing their challenges and successes while they continue with their lives. While the series is made up of experiences from several characters, it features the life of Kevin who's just starting to understand all the chaos and conflicting emotions that surrounds him.

The series centered on a group of residents who become associated with each other through a coincidence, yet they bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The Chi season 2 will reportedly follow to continue the lives of Kevin, Ronnie, Brandon, and Emmett living in the South Side neighborhood of Chicago, with ten episodes.

One of the biggest questions now is whether the show could also maintain what it has already made in the first season. The expectations are pretty high, as Deadline reported The Chi season 1 recorded 4.5 million weekly viewers. The show is also the highest-rated freshman series on Showtime since 2016's Billions.
