Fans of History's Project Blue Book are in for a treat. The historical drama television series just wrapped up its first season, but executive producer Sean Jablonski is already teasing what fans should expect from the forthcoming Season 2.
In a post-finale interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Sean Jablonski said Antarctica will be the gateway to a lot of story in Project Blue Book Season 2. It also ties back to Operation Highjump, officially titled "The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program," which happened from 1946 to 1947.
"The Antarctic holds a lot of secrets and ties back to Operation Highjump, which happened in the early '40s following World War II when our government [and] military felt that the Nazis had discovered alien technology and bases in the Antarctic," executive producer Sean Jablonski explained. "There's a lot of sort of energy around it now - by that I mean, a lot of curiosity about what's going on in the Arctic right now where you can see pyramids on Google Earth," he added.
Executive producer Sean Jablonski also shed some light on the glowing obelisk shown in the mind-boggling finale of Project Blue Book Season 1 that aired on March 12. Opposite of what many viewers assumed, the glowing obelisk is not an antenna for the aliens. He, however, kept mum on what exactly it is.
Nonetheless, fans will not have to wait that long since the first episode of Project Blue Book Season 2 will immediately address those burning questions. The next installment will also dive into Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey) and Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen) having to deal with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) changing the project's entire mandate.
Project Blue Book Season 2 will also see the return of Laura Mennell as Mimi Hynek, Ksenia Solo as Susie Miller, Michael Harney as General Hugh Valentine, Neal McDonough as General James Harding, and Robert John Burke as William Fairchild.
As for the release date, no exact date has been set yet. But fans can expect Project Blue Book Season 2 to premiere in January 2020, considering the first installment's release date. It will also have 10 episodes, just like its predecessor.
The forthcoming Project Blue Book Season 2 will be executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, and Jackie Levine of Compari Entertainment. David O'Leary serves as a creator, executive producer, and writer along with Sean Jablonski and Barry Jossen.
