Manny Pacquiao has yet to announce his next opponent although that person could be among the personalities present in Dallas recently. Both were on hand to witness the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia bout.
In a report by Manila Bulletin Sports, Mayweather and Pacquiao crossed paths yet again and exchange the usual pleasantries. There were no discussions that happened between the two although the meeting of the two future boxing hall of Famers unsurprisingly sparked thoughts of a rematch anew.
Sean Gibbons, Pacquiao's representative believes that a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch is still the best fight to do. He revealed that he will be sitting down with the head of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) Al Haymon soon and may reveal an update this week.
Expectations are not that high on a rematch, especially with Mayweather's camp announcing on several occasions that a rematch will not be happening. Hence, his may push the camp of the Filipino boxing icon to the one who won handily over Garcia - Errol Spence Jr.
In the same report, PBC adviser Adam Schaefer believes that a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr. would make sense. He believes Pacquiao remains a big draw and Spence will be going where the money is.
And it appears that this may be the road ahead for Manny Pacquiao after Errol Spence Jr. invited him into the ring after easily disposing of Garcia. From the looks of it, both had a common interest in facing each other next.
Also, there is the observation shared by Tim Smith, formerly of the New York Times and now with the PBC. He notes how Pacquiao does not usually attend a fight at the AT&T Stadium and that his presence means a lot of things.
The last time he was there was in 2010 when he fought Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito - both of which he won.
Should things go down as planned, Spence's performance against Garcia has led pundits to believe that he could easily do the same on Pacquiao. Forbes believes that a Pacquiao vs. Spence clash could favor the latter, saying that it could end up being a one-sided affair.
Among the things that the article singled out was the height disparity aside from the fact that Pacquiao is already 40 years old while Spence is only 29. If both sides come to an agreement, Spence could be Pacquiao's toughest opponent yet.
