Dynasty season 2 episode 15 will be the final appearance for Nicolette Sheridan (as Alexis Carrington). The actress has confirmed this episode, airing on March 22, will mark her exit from The CW series.
The previous Friday, March 15, Sheridan said via Twitter that the episode airing for that night was her second to the last appearance on Dynasty season 2. When she announced her decision to leave the show last February, Sheridan also confirmed with TV Line that her final episode would air in March.
The actress released a statement to say that she wanted out of the series because she wants to return to Los Angeles to spend more time with her mother, who is terminally ill. Dynasty season 2 has been filming on location in Atlanta, Georgia.
Nearly a year ago, Dynasty signed Sheridan as a season 2 series regular after bringing her character in the middle of the first season. Sheridan was asked to play the troublemaker Alexis Carrington and to take the reins from Joan Collins, who was the original Alexis from the 1980s drama series.
According to Deadline, Dynasty might recast the role in the wake of Sheridan's exist. So far, however, the network has not made any announcements on who should fill her shoes.
Meanwhile, Sheridan is not the only cast member to leave Dynasty season 2. Nathalie Kelley (as Cristal) and James McKay (as Steve Carrington) also left the show in the earlier episodes. Cristal was "killed off" only to be resurrected with Ana-Brenda Contreras taking over the role. McKay, on the other hand, has scaled down his appearances until the character was essentially written out.
However, despite these influxes of stars leaving Dynasty and a middling number in the broadcast ratings race, The CW still renewed the series for season 3. According to network boss Mark Pedowitz, Dynasty is helping boost The CW's programming across multiple platforms, so they are not just concerned with the show's broadcast airings.
By June, Netflix is expected to drop all episodes of Dynasty season 2 on the streaming site for those who want to follow the series via binge-watching. Potentially, the latest season could be ready for access on the platform by June 2 or roughly 80 days after the second season airs its finale on The CW.
Dynasty is a reboot of the primetime soap opera from CBS, The CW's sister network. The show currently airs Friday nights at 8:00 p.m.
