It looks like The 100 has gotten a renewal for season 7. The CW has reportedly given the show a green light to start the production of its next season in the summer of 2019.
Spoiler TV has uncovered that The 100 season 7 is listed in the notes from the industry site ProdWeek. It suggested that the network has "quietly renewed" the series ahead of the premiere of season 6 by the end of April.
However, the early production schedule might not be good news for fans of The 100. This could also be an indication that the seventh season will be the final installment for the sci-fi young adult drama.
The CW, however, has not confirmed The 100 season 7 renewal or the show's final season run, as of press time. According to TV Insider, The CW boss Mark Pedowitz has had discussions with The 100 executive producer Jason Rothenberg about the possibility of a seventh season.
The network president, however, said that they might make their decision by May when all the other networks have to announce their new slate for the 2019-2020 season. However, a final season run may still be a reasonable assumption since most of the network's long-running shows, which are contemporaries of The 100, are set to end this year and next year as well, such as Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, iZombie, and Arrow.
The network has been changing its programming of late with new shows like the reboot of Charmed and Roswell. The upcoming series Batwoman, Jane the Novella and Nancy Drew are also taking over the slots of old shows next season.
Meanwhile, Eliza Taylor (as Clarke) and Bob Morley (as Bellamy) said in an interview with IBT Times that their characters will still be in conflict but at the same time helping each other out in The 100 season 6. Morley said that their characters greatly need each other despite their usual disagreements because their group still needs a leader and also because it's what their best friend Monty (played by Christopher Larkin) wanted before he sacrificed his life.
"I think they want to respect Monty's wishes, try and do better and also work as a team," Morley explained. "I mean, there's a reason he woke up the two of them," he added and said that Bellamy and Clarke would have to honor their friend's wishes.
The 100 season 6 begins its run on Tuesday, April 30, at 9:00 on The CW. There will be 13 episodes.
