Good Omens is the newest series on Amazon and BBC starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen as lead characters. Based on the novels by literary duo Neil Gaiman and late Terry Pratchett, the upcoming series is one of the most anticipated shows this 2019.
Good Omens has six episodes which will premiere on Prime Video on May 31, 2019, and it will also air on BBC at a later date. This will reportedly be followed by a TV broadcast around the world. Filming took place last year, wherein the principal photography wrapped up in March 2018. Sheen will be the angel and the book dealer Aziraphale, while Tennant is the demon named Crowley.
As for the additional casts, Express reported Man Men star Jon Hamm would portray Archangel Gabriel, while Benedict Cumberbatch plays the voice of Satan and Derek Jacobi will be the voice of God. Other cast members to reportedly join the upcoming series include Sherlock's star Sian Brooke as Deirdre Young and Line of Duty actor Daniel Mays as her husband.
Good Omens will also feature Stephen Pemberton as Glozier, Mark Gatiss as Harmony, Miranda Richardson as Madame Tracy, Josie Lawrence as Agnes Nutter, Jack Whitehall as Newton Pulsifer, Anna Maxwell Martin as Beelzebub, Nina Sosanya as Sister Loquacious, Reece Shearsmith as William Shakespeare, and Ned Dennehy as Hastur. Lastly, Lourdes Faberes, Yusuf Gatewood, and Mireille Enos will be playing the role of three of the four horsemen - Pollution, Famine, and War.
Good Omens is based on the fantasy novel of the same name by Gaiman and Pratchett, which was written in 1989. Gaiman is an English author most well-known on his works such as the novels Stardust, American Gods, and Coraline, as well as the comic book series The Sandman. Pratchett, on the other hand, was the best-selling author in the UK in the 1990s and the legendary mind behind several fantasy novels including Discworld series.
Gaiman will be the show-runner of the upcoming series he reinvented the story in TV series while still trying to remain faithful for those who have read the books around the world. He said that he wanted to add surprises and excitement in the show.
Good Omens follows Aziraphale and Crowley, both of them lived on the Earth since The Beginning, but change is afoot, and they were forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop the Armageddon. They lost the 11-year-old Antichrist boy who's unaware he's meant to bring the end of days in the world, so the duo will embark on an adventure to find him before it's too late.
