Fans will once again see the classic antics of Bill and Ted with the coming of Bill & Ted 3, officially titled as Bill & Ted Face the Music. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters confirmed the movie would be in the making after 28 years since the last film's release.
"Where we'll never play," Winters said in front of the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. while announcing Bill & Ted 3 coming. "Never play," Reeves repeated. They then thanked their fans and said they owed a "huge debt of gratitude to them" for clamoring for the movie's return.
According to Vanity Fair, Bill & Ted 3 will be about Bill and Ted fulfilling their "rock and roll destiny." Although they are already on their middle-age, the best friends will be going on a new adventure after a visitor from the future tells them that their song is the only way to save lives and bring harmony to the universe. The two will get the help of their families, old friends, and a few music legends to complete their mission.
The production of Bill & Ted 3 is set to begin this summer in New Orleans. It will be directed by Dean Parisot and written by the original Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. Executive producer Steven Soderbergh has been teasing the movie will be "hilarious" as they have been working for it for the past 10 years.
Winters, too, has been giving little updates about Bill & Ted 3. In 2016, there were reports that the movie already had a completed script, a director, a studio, and a 2017 release date. But the year came and went; the film was not seen on the big screen.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, Reeves talked about Bill & Ted 3 and said fans would see everyone a little older and afraid this time. Winters added they would be "certain comparisons" between the films.
In Bill & Ted 3, they would be the rock band that never goes to the place that they thought they would be going. Hence, they would end up questioning themselves if they would still try to reach the top or give up their dream.
Bill & Ted 3 would show how its iconic characters have evolved after 28 years since Bill & Ted 2 hit the cinemas in 1991 and the original movie in 1989. Bill & Ted Face The Music would be out on August 21, 2020, from Orion Pictures.
