The Act episode 4 will arrive next week and the episode will possibly tackle a rising problem between Gypsy and her mother Dee Dee. The title of the upcoming episode is "The Tower"; here are the other things to anticipate next week.
First, let's talk about what happened in episode 3, which was released on March 27 on Hulu. Dee Dee Blanchard (played by Patricia Arquette) is doing her best to be a good mother to her daughter Gypsy (Joey King), but that's not really the case for these two. In the third episode, Dee Dee and Gypsy headed to a costume convention, but they attracted charming men which might lead to problems and complicate their insular relationship. In addition, Gypsy's suspicion about her mother is growing and believes she's telling her lies - especially about her age.
Now, let's move to The Act episode 4, which is set to release on April 3. According to the synopsis, as Gypsy gets older, Dee Dee decided to make new plans so she could still control her "little girl." However, her health problems limit her in doing this so. Gypsy will also try new things where she connects with other men and she experienced a sexual awakening. This will possibly create problems between the two, considering the fact that Dee Dee isolates her daughter with other people.
The Act is exclusive to Hulu, meaning there is no other way to watch the show. The series is based on the 2016 BuzzFeed article that tells the story of a shocking crime in 2015. The Act follows the story of an overprotective mother Dee Dee and Gypsy who's trying to escape the toxic relationship with her mother, which leads to murder.
Previous reports about the case revealed Dee Dee was likely suffering from a condition known as the Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder. The said illness reportedly caused Dee Dee to fabricate the medical histories of her daughter, wherein some of her medical records revealed she suffered from epilepsy, leukemia and muscular dystrophy.
In an interview, Gypsy talked about how her mother hides her real age until she found some documents showing how old she was at the age of 19. She said that she discovered some documents in Dee Dee's safe, stating she was born in 1991. That's when she started to question her real age.
The Act airs on Hulu every Wednesdays and Express reported then show will also air in the UK on Channel 4, though the release date was not yet announced.
