It's been almost a year now since the seventh season of Homeland wrapped things up. And given the long period of waiting, the Showtime's hit series is now revealed to arrive come the fall season of this year.

While it's arriving soon on the network, fans are filled with mixed emotions knowing that Homeland Season 8 will already be the last of it. This is actually stated by the lead star herself, Claire Danes, in one of her interviews last year. But recently, it has been already confirmed by David Nevins, the Showtime president.

As it happens, the upcoming installment will be the final season of the show. While this appears to be sad news for some, others, however, find it hardly surprising for some reason. Even so, this new installment brings a lot of excitement and suspense to both fans and cast of the show.

With the previous season's ending, the expectation for the final season has reached its peak. Thanks to its dramatic and unexpected season ender last year, fans are expecting for more in the succeeding season.

The plot of Season 8 is expected to add more hype and volume since it is already the finale of the show. In fact, the setting of the season will not be in its actual homeland. Rather, the set will be in different parts of Europe, Alex Ganza, showrunner of Homeland, told Entertainment Weekly.

He also added that the next season will focus more on a much smaller scope of intelligence in comparison to the last season. Moreover, it will highlight overseas locations as revealed by TV Line. And based on these revelations, there are mentioning of countries like Afghanistan, Morocco, and Israel.

But as for specifics, no further information has been given about the locations of the plot. Nevertheless, fans are seen to be excited about Carrie's supposed trips back to the Middle East.

In terms of the cast, it is revealed recently that Homeland will introduce The Order and True Blood actor, Sam Trammel, in the upcoming season. He is believed to play the role of Vice President Benjamin Hayes.

But for a more surprising turn out of events, Clare Danes real-life husband, Hugh Dancy, will also join the series. He is set to play a recurring role with the name of John Zebel.

So far, these are the only details that have been shared with the public. As for the official teasers and trailers, there is a huge chance that these materials will be released a month before the premiere date.
