When the third season of Peaky Blinders was initially aired in 2016, BBC instantly renewed the show for two more seasons. And a year after, the fourth season dropped with six new additional episodes to the series. And recently, it has been revealed that season 5 will arrive this 2019.
Originally, the latest season is expected to arrive on BBC Two in the later months of 2019. But based on the recent reports, it seemingly appears that the fifth season will arrive sooner than expected.
In light of these new reports, fans of the series are quite happy and excited to learn that Peaky Blinders is already on its way to the television. But it has been confirmed that there will be a few changes that will happen once the new season arrives.
As every fan knows it, BBC Two has been the home network of the show. But because of the increasing popularity and audience, the network has decided to move the show from BBC Two going to BBC One. This will allow the show to welcome a "broader audience," Charlotte Moore, the BBC executive, explained. So, once the new season arrives, the whole Peaky Blinders fandom will witness the show on its new channel.
In an interview with Express Co, the plot of the new installment is confirmed to start with the crash of Wall Street that happened in 1929. And since Tommy had already become a politician when the fourth season ended, this will be the next challenge that they will face as their money drifts away. Furthermore, the upcoming installment will take place between 1929 and 1930.
As for the cast, the pioneer roles will certainly return about Digital Spy's take on the show's upcoming season. Although there is not enough information yet, it has been already unveiled that The Hunger Games star, Sam Claflin, and The Witch actress, Anya Taylor-Joy will join the cast for the fifth season.
On another note, the showrunner also revealed that he envisions the series to end with the events that took place in Birmingham in 1939, specifically, the historical first air raid siren. And to be able to reach that point, the show will need to have additional installments which might extend up to the seventh range. So, it is pretty much revealed already that Peaky Blinders is planned to continue the family saga up to season 7. But even so, it's still a long way run for the show.
