Jessica Jones has been given a new season order by Netflix. However, it will already serve as the final installment of the show.

As you may know, this title belongs to the Defenders family. And if you would recall it, Disney has been pulling out all of their materials from the streaming giant because they are releasing their streaming service, Disney+, before 2019 ends.

Unfortunately for the Defenders family, no further installments will be ordered from both streaming services because of the agreement they had with Netflix. And if ever new seasons will be made, it might happen after 2020. So, it is possible that this will be the last of Jessica Jones.

But on the bright side, the series is set to return on Netflix before 2019 ends. And since there is no pattern to follow in terms of its releasing date and month, Inverse speculates that the third season will arrive by mid to late 2019.

The filming of the new installment commenced in April 2018. And it is expected for everything to wrap up after March of this year. So, until then, fans and viewers of Jessica Jones may simply need to wait for further information about the third and final season.

The same thing applies to the official trailers and teasers. And it is pretty much likely that these materials will be released a month before the actual release date. Nevertheless, fans can expect a lot of new things when Jessica Jones drops its third installment on Netflix.

For one, Den of Geek revealed that the lead actress herself, Krysten Ritter, makes a directorial debut in one of the new season's episodes. It has also been stated that she felt more excited and appreciated considering that Marvel has given her such opportunity, Ritter shared in an interview.

The actress also shared a few hints about the plot of the upcoming season. Based on her statements, it seems that Jessica will continue to explore herself and her truest identity. And in parallelism to the previous season, fans have witnessed how her character grew over time. So, there is a huge chance that the new installment will be much more personal to her.

Although there are no confirmations yet as well in terms of the actual plot and storyline, Inverse shared that Jessica Jones will pick up what's left to the second season. And there is a possibility that her sister, Trish, would assume a new identity as Hellcat.
