Legacies season 1 concluded last week and The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off left a game-changing finale. Finally, Hope Mikaelson found her purpose in life after a full season of thinking she's just a cosmic mistake. However, her purpose means she has to sacrifice herself and her existence will be erased. Many fans are sure Hope will return on the next installment, but aside from that, Legacies creator Julie Plec teases some character from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals might appear at some point.
The first season of Legacies has proved that it can exist separately from the two mentioned shows. But for Plec, the spin-off would like to bring back "plenty of character" that they like to use and see once again. There's a huge possibility Legacies season 2 could bring more big names from The Vampire Diaries, as well as The Originals.
Rumors suggest Candice King (who portrays the character of Caroline) might be a series regular since her character has a strong bond with other characters, although that's not guaranteed at the moment. As reported by TV Guide, Plec reveals she wanted to she's like to see Bonnie (played by Kat Graham), Freya (Riley Voelkel), Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), as well as Auntie Rebekah (Claire Holt). She said the door is always open but it all depends if these actors were still interested in joining the spin-off.
Plec also wants Chris Wood's character Kai Parker from The Vampire Diaries to appear on Legacies season 2. He is the brother of Jo (Josie and Lizzie's mother), who has a siphoner power like the younger twins. However, he's a sociopath who banished in the prison world at the eighth and final season of The Vampire Diaries. Plec told Entertainment Weekly she loves to see the character again, even with just one episode, as he's perfect in the storyline - especially with what happened to Lizzie and Josie at the end of season 1.
When it comes to Legacies-specific world, Penelope Park (Lulu Antariksa) might be returning in Legacies season 2. Penelope is a witch and also the ex-girlfriend of Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) who left the Salvatore School because her mother got a job in Belgium, which leads her to transfer to a witches-only school there. But, she told Josie about the thing called The Merge before she left. In The Vampire Diaries, this is a ritual wherein the coven of Josie's twin - the Gemini coven - determines the next leader.
