It has been 10 years since Jang Ja Yeon reportedly took her life, but something deeper might have happened behind her death. As her case, which involved serving drinks and doing sexual favors for high profile personalities, is once again open, the hopes are high that the reinvestigation will give justice to the late actress with the help of Yoon Ji Oh.
Yoon Ji Oh is Jang Ja Yeon's former colleague and who has been helping her case gets solved. Now that the investigation is once again open, her coming forward will give a new light to the case.
According to AllKpop, Yoon Ji Oh claimed Jang Ja Yeon didn't take her own life. The reinvestigation will reportedly lead to the extension of "limitations for the case to a maximum 25 years." She also said that what happened was not a case of sexual bribery, but sexually abused and called out the media that reported it was a different case.
"You reported that she provided 'sexual favors as bribes,' but did you confirm that such activities had taken place?" Yoon Ji Oh said. "If you did, then the media, police, and prosecution must know about the injustice experienced by [Jang Ja Yeon] and should clearly disclose it."
Yoon Ji Oh asserted she saw how Jang Je Yeon suffered sexual assault. She also knew that the late actress wrote documents, which revealed everything that happened to her before she died.
Aside from Lee Mi Sook, Yoon Ji Oh revealed there were five people who knew what happened to Jang Je Yeon. These people even have more knowledge of Jang's case compared to her. Hence, she asked for them to come forward and cooperate with the reinvestigation even if they have to do it under different names.
Meanwhile, Yoon Ji Oh asked for stronger police protection after the authorities didn't respond to her emergency signals recently for over 10 hours. In a post on Instagram, the 31-year-old actress said the smartwatch device the police gave her didn't work when she used it.
So, Yoon Ji Oh asked the police to explain what happened and apologize. She also urged the authorities to boost their protection programs for other case victims and witnesses.
The police, on the other hand, claimed they didn't receive any emergency signals from Yoon Ji Oh, per Korea Herald. They are now investigating the reason behind the failed smartwatch device.
Yoon Ji Oh has been actively participating in solving Jang Ja Yeon's case for the last 10 years. When the case reopens, she revealed her face and name and testified as a witness. Since then, she admitted she has feared for her life and has received a lot of death threats.
