NBC has yet to announce This Is Us Season 4's coming, but with the twists and turns occurring on the Pearson family's lives, it is not far from happening. Showrunner Dan Fogelman already has an idea of how the new season will roll out, and it may shift the story from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) to Rebecca (Mandy Moore).
"There is a moment in the show where, in a weird way, the present becomes the past and the future becomes the present," Fogelman said, via Elite Daily. "It doesn't always have to be like, in the deep, deep future, but we can play with time in a really interesting way that really tells the full story of a family."
This Is Us Season 4 will continue to "shift perspective" as its story goes on. Fogelman added it had been their plan from the very beginning to go back and forth in the past, present, and future to tell the Pearson's family story. Compared to other series, the show began with an endgame from the start to stay on its course to familiarize fans and follow its tale.
According to Screen Rant, Fogelman also revealed This Is Us Season 4 would get bigger in different ways, and it might start by introducing Rebecca's father. He also added the show's main story, which involves Jack, would come to a close on Season 3, as it would shift away from the Pearson family patriarch.
This Is Us Season 4 will put its focus more on the personal lives of the Big Three: Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Kate now has a new baby, Randall's marriage with Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) is still on the rocks, and Kevin has to deal with his uncertain future with Zoe (Melanie Liburd).
Meanwhile, executive producer Isaac Aptaker revealed the show has a planned "six season arc," so This Is Us Season 4 will surely be in the works. With Season 3's steady but quite low ratings, critical acclaim, and hype, a new season will come out.
Hence, NBC is expected to pick up the show in the coming weeks. Following the show's timeline, This Is Us Season 4 may come out in the fall TV season, which is between the third and fourth week of September.
This Is Us Season 4 may officially out on September 24. But if the Season 3's delay may affect the new season's release, it may be released two weeks late or in October. And if the NBC wants to keep away from the annual State of the Union Address to avoid hiatus, the show may debut in February 2020.
