In the new teaser trailer of Chicago Fire, the upcoming episode reveals that Cruz might get a special commendation from the Chicago PD. Although this award is not yet official since the word is just passing around, Cruz already told Brett about this. And even if he knew that he's not supposed to tell anybody yet, he cannot help it but share his excitement.
It is quite understandable why Cruz feels excited about the rumored special commendation. Besides, Brett was the one who asked him to share the "unofficial" news. Also, it is worth noting that getting a commendation from the Chicago PD is a huge deal for every firefighter. And coming from Boden himself, this commendation is a big deal.
The friendly rivalry between cops and firefighters is pretty much apparent in all aspects. And to be commended for bravery is quite a normal thing for every firefighter. But an award, not to mention a special one, from an organization of cops, is something that every firefighter would be surprised and happy about.
Looking back at the previous episode of Chicago Fire, the recent crossover episode between Chicago Fire and Chicago PD is something to spot on. In it, the surprising yet overwhelming undercover actions of Joe Cruz has become very successful. He was able to recover the missing lockbox key.
And upon recovering, he was able to wrap up several robberies and cases for the Chicago PD. And while he is not a cop, he was able to do all these things in his power. This is why it is not a surprise as to why he would get a special commendation from the rival organization.
Although the new episode of Chicago Fire is something that every fan would look forward to, the synopsis of the upcoming episode partially reveals that this installment may not be rewarding for Cruz. As it appears, he and Severide will clash as the latter gets angry with Cruz for not following his orders in the field.
As to which orders are these, there is not much information about it. For all the fans know, it may be something related to the special commendation that he is about to receive from the Chicago PD. But even so, this is something that every fan must witness by themselves. So, whether Cruz will get an award or not, the next episode will certainly unveil.
Chicago Fire Season 7 will return on April 3 for its eighteenth episode.
