On April Fools' Day, Fox released a surprising yet spine-chilling teaser that every Gotham fan gets excited about. With the series apparent and near end, it is no surprise that the show will leave the fans with a bang. And in this case, the birth and rise of the fully bloomed villain, The Joker.
Gotham has been a unique hero-related series. Although it is not specifically focused on Bruce Wayne or Batman, it showed the backgrounds and histories of the said DC hero, along with its well-known villains. And these villains include Poison Ivy, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Mr. Freeze, and Solomon Grundy.
From this list of villains, one person remains to be unnamed, and it is no other than the infamous Joker. It is worth noting that Gotham is technically not allowed to use the "Joker" title in the series, Cameron Monaghan revealed with Screen Rant. And much more with its appearance, the series is not allowed to use Joker's iconic appearance from the comics.
Although Gotham has its restrictions of having The Joker in the series, the production was still able to include the persona of Batman's famous nemesis in the form of J. And this is quite creative and impressive, in a way that Joker will finally be introduced in a very subtle way.
As every fan knows it, J has been initially introduced as Jerome. This is the first character that Cameron Monaghan ever played in the series. During the initial introduction, fans have no actual clue as to who his character will be in the end. But with the apparent and permanent death of Jerome, his twin brother, Jeremiah has surfaced. And this time, a few hints were already given that he might become the Joker of the series.
Quite pleasingly and arguably a fact, the recently released trailer revealed that the final episode of the series might already showcase the familiar versions of Batman and possibly, The Joker.
The actor himself, Cameron Monaghan, has been teasing his third character in the series for a while now. And according to Cartermatt, it is likely plausible that Monaghan's ultimate character will be the full-bloom Joker considering that he possesses the qualities and traits of the Joker from the comics and DC movies.
And if this is the case, then it will make total sense considering that the end of Gotham will naturally be the starting point of everything in Bruce Wayne/Batman's current life. Not to mention, the series carries the title, The Beginning..., which is a total genius plan all along for the series.
Now, the series finale is set to premiere on April 25. And there is one episode left before it gets to its final episode. So, fans better watch out for more revelations.
