Actress Stana Katic shares what are the things to expect in Absentia season 2, teasing fans about the new story and setting shift. In Canada, the second installment of the thriller series arrived on Showcase on April 3, while it will premiere on Amazon Prime this coming summer in the United States. Here are the things fans can expect on Absentia season 2.

In an interview with The Morning Show, Katic talks about her character Emily Bryne - an FBI agent who disappeared for full six years and declared dead in absentia, but she was held captive over the past years. Eventually, she was found alive but with no memory which makes it harder for her especially when she became the prime suspect in new murder cases. Going back to the interview, the actress teased that the upcoming season will be more different and it will be full of "twists" and "dark moments."

At the end of Absentia season 1, the captor of Emily was revealed, as well as what happened to her during her childhood in an orphanage, which involves behavioral experiments. Moreover, she also needs to face the truth about her new life, especially her husband Nick (Patrick Heusinger) married another woman named Alice (Cara Theobold) and her son Flynn (Patrick McAuley) now has a new mother.

Based on the trailer of the second installment, Emily will try to re-adjust to her normal life, but it seems like she's still in danger. Absentia season 2 will reportedly focus on the character trying to overcome her struggles not only during her six years in captivity but also during her childhood days. Also, she will reportedly enlist a Boston detective to find out what happened to her in the past, hoping to clarify what's going on. The trailer also suggests authorities think Emily is now "violent" and "dangerous" - which makes her a threat.

Katic also noted fans might see a setting shift in Absentia season 2. What does this mean? The crew might head out to a new location and a completely different world. Viewers have already seen the series try to use Bulgaria to emulate Boston, so this is a good opportunity to try and explore other locations. They might be moving out in Europe and try new filming places. Meanwhile, aside from being the lead star, Katic will also return as co-producer.

Absentia season 2 episode 1, titled "Casualties," will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 14, 2019.
