The upcoming reboot of Hellboy has a new gory trailer. Released just days before it runs in theaters on Friday, April 12, the film's super R-rated teaser finally brings all the blood and gore that fans have been looking for.

The new teaser is a lot different than the previous clips. It's not just filled with gruesome scenes but also some foul language. To horror and fantasy fans, this is a visual showcase that may be comparable to the first two Hellboy films.

The image of Mila Jovovich (as Nimue) opens the new trailer and Ian McShane (as Professor Broom) is heard declaring that her character is the Queen of Blood. Nimue then gets executed but she returns from the dead stronger than before. Hellboy (played by David Harbour) then storms the scene and says, with some cursing, that he's there to save the world from monsters.

The Hellboy reboot is directed by Neil Marshall who helmed some of Game of Thrones most popular episodes. Yet he has to prove to the franchise's large fanbase that he's the perfect person to follow in the footsteps of fantasy master Guillermo Del Toro, the director of Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008).

Harbour, best known for his role as Chief Hopper from Stranger Things, takes over the role the titular role from Ron Perlman. The latter, who starred in the first two movies, stepped down from the role when Del Toro didn't want to get involved in this reboot.

This Hellboy reboot, however, is not connected to the Del Toro movies. This has a separate storyline and a different take on the characters. Del Toro originally planned to do another sequel but plans fell through with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

"I would've loved to see Guillermo do his third movie and finish that story. But over the years it became very clear that wasn't going to happen," Mignola said in an interview with Nerdist. "it's exciting to have another director. It's exciting to take another path, to take that material and give it another leaning."

Plot details to the upcoming Hellboy film are unclear but it looks like this reboot is an origin story done in a different way than the 2004 movie. There's a scene in the trailer that reveals a Nazi scientist and Rasputin. It suggests that Hellboy comes to Earth in a different way than what fans know from the comic books or from the movies.

Aside from Harbour, McShane and Jovovich, Hellboy also includes Daniel Dae Kim, Thomas Haden Church and Sasha Lane. There will be no Abe and Liz in this reboot.

Hellboy filmed from September to December 2017 in Bulgaria and many areas in the U.K. The movie hits theaters on Friday, April 12.
