Avid followers of Song Joong Ki are now thrilled about his up-and-coming return to the small screen via a new television series titled Asadal Chronicles. It will be the first project of Song Hye Kyo's husband since he took a hiatus from the limelight after the Song-Song couple's wedding in October 2017. However, though it has not aired yet, the imminent show is facing some backlash already.

On Monday, the Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center revealed its plan to host a press conference as its way to express disappointment to the upcoming series. An unnamed tipster from the broadcasting staff union department of Hope Solidarity Labor Union claimed that many workers have worked for "over 20 hours a day." An initial complaint was filed already. However, things, reportedly, did not improve. Moreover, it is being claimed that the management failed to provide adequate working conditions for its staff members.

Hanbit Media Labor Rights Center is said to request the Seoul Employment and Labor Administration to monitor the working condition of staff members on the set of the upcoming drama series, which is led by Song Joong Ki. It was, also, revealed that the center would host a rally in front of CJ ENM center on the same day.

The same insider even revealed that a staff member suffered a fracture. "This resulted not from an individual's inability to pay attention but from long hours of labor," the source claimed. Now, many fans are wondering if Song Joong Ki's upcoming new drama would be delayed because of the complaints.

For starters, Asadal Chronicles centers on the story of the mythical city of Asadal. The imminent new South Korean television series would tackle the harmony, love, and conflict among the citizens of the city as it grows and gives birth to a new hero. Besides Song Joong Ki, other stars expected to appear in the upcoming show include Kim Ok Bin, Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ji Won among others.

Asadal Chronicles is scheduled to premiere sometime in May 2019. However, speculations have it that the airing could be delayed if further investigations would be conducted following the call-out. While these reports could be true, it is important to note that tvN has yet to comment on these claims. Hence, avid followers of Song Joong Ki and the other cast of the show should take these unverified reports lightly until everything is proven accurate.

Song Joong Ki, previously, revealed that Asadal Chronicles would be worth the wait because all cast and crew are working very hard to give them a quality show. Song Hye Kyo's husband was even spotted filming for a wedding scene a few weeks ago. Stay tuned to Business Times for the latest news and updates.
