Things will be different in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18. This special episode, scheduled to air on Monday, April 15, was meant to be a Halloween offering in 2018 but it was pushed off the schedule.
According to Hidden Remote, Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18 will take place in an alternate world. The people living in this different reality do not speak. Instead, they sing and dance what's in their mind and hearts, and they also dress up as if they were in a Halloween party.
A demon is responsible for this alternate world in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18, as per the episode synopsis. This character will put a spell over New York's Shadow World. Hence, everyone acts differently.
It's unclear for now who among the cast of Shadowhunters have solo numbers in this musical. Hidden Remote, however, confirmed that Lilith (played by Anna Hopkins) would have her jazz number in Edom with Jonathan (played by Luke Baines) likely appearing in the scene as a continuity to the previous episode.
Rumors have it, however, that Jace (played by Dominic Sherwood) and Alec (played by Matthew Daddario) might have a rock ballad to belt out in this special episode. Harry Shum Jr. (as Magnus Bane) and Javier Muñoz (as Lorenzo Ray), on the other hand, are speculated to be performing a rap battle.
In 2017, Katherine McNamara (as Clary) teased that Shadowhunters season 3 might finally have a musical episode. Fans have been asking for this special ever since they heard her character briefly sing in one episode and her co-star Alberto Rosende (as Simon Lewis) sang in the second season.
"They keep joking about a musical episode," McNamara said in an interview with The Wrap after the third season was confirmed. "It would be intense, but I guess anything is possible."
Meanwhile, Shadowhunters season 3 episode 18 might feature a proposal between Magnus and Alec. There have been speculations that the series will end with these two lovebirds getting married and the Halloween episode might just be a perfect time.
However, Magnus will still feel heavily depressed about losing his powers. It's up to Alec to stick with his man despite getting advice that he should break up with him.
Shadowhunters season 3 has three more episodes left to air after April 15. The show will culminate its run on May 6 with an extended two-and-a-half-hour series finale.
