Meghan Markle is reportedly not planning to give birth at a hospital. Sources say that the 37-year-old royal may be going for home birth at Frogmore Cottage.
According to Daily Mail, Markle has been leaning towards a home birth with a team of midwives more than hospital birth. However, she's still not discounting the latter because of the risks of baby deliveries for someone her age.
In recent times, royal births have usually taken place at the very private Lindo Wing in London's St. Mary's Hospital. Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, gave birth to all of their children at this hospital. Princess Diana also gave birth to Prince William and Prince Harry at the Lindo Wing.
However, Prince Harry's ancestors went through home births before. Even Queen Elizabeth gave birth to Prince Charles at her home in Buckingham Palace.
A friend of the couple revealed, however, that Markle has had an easy pregnancy. She's also in the best of health. Thus, she may be able to carry on with the home birth.
But the reason why Markle wanted to deliver the baby at Frogmore Cottage was for privacy. The Duchess of Sussex didn't want this moment to be much like a goldfish bowl feeling, so she's ditching the tradition to pose at the steps of the Lindo Wing after the birth.
Markle may get what she wants since the protocols are less strict for her and Prince Harry as their growing family is not in the direct line of succession. However, these reports remain speculations since the palace hasn't released the official details regarding the birth plans for Prince Harry and Markle's firstborn, as per FOX News.
The former Hollywood actress is due to give birth in late April or early May. Markle didn't explicitly say her due date when someone from the crowd during a royal visit last January asked her about her pregnancy.
Also, there haven't been any no parking signs set up weeks before the birth, unlike during Middleton's pregnancy. This has ruled out the Lindo Wing as the site of the birth, especially after reports came out that the Sussex couple moved into the Frogmore Cottage last week.
Markle and Prince Harry have been renovating the estate for several weeks before they took residence. Queen Elizabeth gifted this property to the couple.
Meanwhile, according to People, the London Eye will be glowing red, white and blue once Markle has her baby. These colors are also found on the Union Jack and the flag of Markle's country, the United States.
