The CW's Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 is coming to an end, but there is no renewal decision yet. Hence, many fans cannot help but worry about the show's future.
Created by Carina Adly Mackenzie, Roswell, New Mexico follows a young woman, Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason), who returns to her hometown to take care of her ailing father after more than a decade away from home. There, she reconnects with her high school crush, Max Evans (Nathan Parsons), who is now a dedicated deputy sheriff.
However, their friendship was tested when Liz Ortecho found out that Max Evans and his siblings are aliens who have kept their supernatural abilities hidden their entire lives. To make things more complicated, a violent attack points to a greater alien presence on Earth.
Now that there are only three episodes left before Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 ends, fans want to know if there is going to be a second installment. While nothing is set in stone yet, many believed The CW would pick it up for another season considering that the show's ratings have been steady all season.
If Roswell, New Mexico ends up seeing another season, fans may witness the arrival of another alien, abduction and a new crush for Max Evans. This comes after showrunner Carina Adly Mackenzie that there is still a lot more alien mythology that the drama and science fiction television series will explore.
"Right now, we're really focusing on our small town, and what happened in our small town, but as the world gets bigger throughout the season, those questions start to come up, and will be answered," showrunner Carina Adly Mackenzie said in an interview with Assignment X. "Our aliens don't know anything about where they came from, or why they are here. So we are going to be asking those questions," she added.
As for the Roswell, New Mexico Season 2 cast, it is likely that actors Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons, Michael Vlamis, Lily Cowles, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino, Karan Oberoi, and Trevor St. John will all reprise their respective roles.
Other stars include Rosa Arredondo as Sheriff Valenti, Carlos Compean as Arturo Ortecho, Riley Voelkel as Jenna Cameron, Amber Midthunder as Rosa Ortecho, Sherri Saum as Mimi DeLuca, Claudia Black as Ann Evans, and Dylan McTee as Wyatt Long.
As of press time, Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 airs every Tuesday at 9/8c on The CW.
