Psych: The Movie 2 is now shaping up with the confirmation of two characters' appearance. Joel McHale will be a new addition to the film, while Jimmi Simpson's return is also confirmed to reprise his role as Mary Lightly.

McHale will be a "very special guest" in Psych: The Movie 2. It is not yet revealed what role the 47-year-old comedian would play in the movie. But given his talent, he would surely make everyone laugh.

According to Comic Book, McHale will be a mysterious character from Carlton Lassiter's (Timothy Omundson), who will also make his return, past. NBC Universal confirmed the Community star's appearance in Psych: The Movie 2 after Omundson shared a photo of him on Instagram. "Here she is,.Psychos. Our very special #PsychTheMovie2 Guest," he captioned the snap.

There are theories McHale may play to be the "fan's villain" in Psych: The Movie 2, although NBC Universal has yet to confirm this claim. But if it happens, it will surely be a very interesting twist in the film.

Aside from McHale, Simpson will also return in Psych: The Movie 2 to once again play his role as Mary Lightly. The 43-year-old shared a video on Twitter, showing his "Psych-branded longboard" that suggested his return. "It's gonna happen. Psych: The Movie 2," he captioned the clip.

Although Simpson's character already died in the television series, he made post-humous appearances. He also made an appearance in the first Psych: The Movie in a dream sequence.

Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) will be back in Psych: The Movie 2 to return to where it all began: Santa Barbara, per TVLine. Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen will also be seen in the movie to take on their roles as Juliet, Karen, and Henry, respectively.

In Psych: The Movie 2, Lassie will be "ambushed on the job and left for dead." From here, he will see different happenings in true Psych-style. Shawn and Gus will be on Lassie's side as they will be forced to explore the "personal, professional, and possibly the supernatural" side of things.

Although these favorite characters have been separated from their new lives in San Francisco, they would find themselves again in the old stomping grounds. They will secretly untangle a twisted case in Psych: The Movie 2 without the benefit of the "police or their loved ones." What they are about to discover will change how their relationship goes.

It is not yet revealed when exactly Psych: The Movie 2 will be out, but it is said to be released on USA Network later this year. It is written co-written by Roday, Andy Berman, and series creator and director Steve Franks.
