Read at your own risk: This article contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2.
Love is ultimately apparent in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 titled, A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms. While this is something unusual and new to the course of the series, the whole fandom is loving it.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 is pretty much important as it showed humanity and love while everyone prepares for the upcoming battle between the living and the dead. Although the episode is filled with a lot of emotional moments, there is one particular scene that melted everyone's heart. And this is Sansa's reunion with Theon.
As you may recall, Sansa's reunions with Arya and Bran were not entirely that emotional. While her reunion with Jon was indeed a glorious moment for the characters as well as for the fans, the new Lady of Winterfell's reunion with Theon tells a much deeper story.
In Season 5, Sansa and Theon reunited for the first time. During that time, Sansa has unquestionably the utmost hatred for Theon for betraying Robb and their family. But things were quite complicated since she was reunited with Reek and not Theon.
Ramsay Bolton tortured Theon and made him a new man or should we say less of a man that he was. Hence, Reek. While Reek is serving Ramsay, Sansa got married to Ramsay. And this is where things got twisted for the two since Ramsay was a wicked and twisted person.
But the most heartbreaking and yet most personal thing that Ramsay made was he forced Theon to watch as he raped Sansa during their wedding night. And for many months, Theon and Sansa witnessed each other's misery and suffering from the hands of Ramsay.
When their opportunity to escape became available, Theon killed Ramsay's girlfriend, Miranda, and they both jumped from a wall to finally escape. Although Sansa insisted Theon to come with her to Jon, Theon decided to go back to the Iron Islands as he knew that he would never be forgiven by rest of the Stark clan. And this is where the two parted ways.
Fast forward to Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2, they got reunited as Theon came back to his real home and pledged his allegiance to Sansa to fight with them in the upcoming battle.
This reunion became so personal and emotional between the two. Sansa even cried while hugging Theon. But while many of the fans are theorizing that this is a spark of something romantic, this reunion, however, is something much deeper and more personal.
It emphasized real and genuine love between the two in consideration to the sufferings that they both experienced under Ramsay. Accordingly, Sansa became so much closer to Theon than any of her siblings. This is why their relationship is a tale of true and genuine love. And that is something you would not usually see on Game of Thrones.
Game of Thrones Season 8 will return on April 28 for its third episode.
