Netflix as a streaming giant is becoming more diverse and open to varieties when it comes to their materials. The platform will welcome another Korean drama series in its offerings. And recently, it has been announced that Abyss Season 1 will finally arrive.
Earlier this week, Netflix has announced that Abyss will officially enter the streaming platform as a Netflix Original on May onwards. For Asia and some English-speaking regions, Abyss Season 1 will start to release two episodes per week on May 6.
But for Canada, Japan, and Argentina, the platform will release all episodes of the pilot season on June 26. For Hong Kong and Macau, all episodes of Abyss Season 1 will be available on July 1. And for the rest of regions and countries, two episodes every week will start to premiere on May 16.
Abyss is a Korean fantasy dramedy that will focus on two characters namely Ko Se-Yeon and Cha Min. These characters will be played by Park Bo-Young and Ahn Hyo-Seop, respectively.
Ko Se-Yeon is a uniquely pretty lady who happens to be very impressive with her career. However, her character is not that pleasing when it comes to her attitude.
On the other hand, Cha Min is a man who appears to be ordinary-looking in terms of his physical appearance. But while looking plain normal and ordinary, his character speaks more volume as he is pure and kind.
When the two characters met, they were given a magical and mysterious bead called Abyss. And because of this incident, it led to their abrupt and yet imminent demise. But luckily for them, they have the Abyss which has the power to bring them back to life. And so it did, but it comes with a twist.
As it happens, their appearances changed the other way around. And this change is based on their apparent characters and attitudes in their former lives. With these things at hand, Cha Min is now a good-looking man while Ko Se-Yeon struggles to accept the fact that she is no longer uniquely beautiful, but just a plain commoner.
The plot further progresses as the two became co-workers in a law firm when Cha Min enters the firm to work under Ko Se-Yeon.
Other cast members of the Abyss Season 1 include Lee Sung-Jae, Han So-Hee, Yun Yoo-Sun, An Se-Ha, Kim Sa-Rang, Kwon Soo-Hyun, and Lee Si-Un.
