The recent announcement of Adele's and Simon Konecki's startling out-of-the-blue separation shocked fans of the 21 singer and people are asking why.
The couple have been married for seven years, and there has not been an inkling that this would be how their relationship would end up. The 30-year-old singer and songwriter has always been careful to keep her private life away from the spotlight.
For the longest time people have just supposed everything was going on well with the two. That is why it came as a shock when Adele's representative became out on Easter weekend to make the announcement.
The statement declared that the couple has decided to separate but that they are both "committed" to "raising" their son Angelo "together lovingly." It also underlined the couple's request for continued privacy and pointed out there would be no more forthcoming "comment" thereafter.
There seemed to be nothing controversial about the couple's reason for their separation. It was explained by an insider that the couple had just grown far apart. Although Adele and Simon had started out with "a lot in common," they just eventually lost their connection over the years.
The same source revealed that, as the years passed and Adele became a "bigger and bigger star," Simon had first been "okay" with the arrangement. This was when he would still accompany the singer on her tours. However, the pressure went higher and higher and as the singer's schedule became busier and more demanding, especially with her "massive tours" the relationship just seemed to fizzle out.
Even though their relationship was alright for them a long time, it came to a point when it just was not "working anymore."
And now that the two have finally taken the step to separate, people are wondering how the divorce is going to pan out between them in terms of Adele's $180 million net worth.
Although the "Someone Like You" singer has said in the past that money was not an "important part" of her life, not having "come from money," if the two had not initially agreed on a prenup, a substantial part of her earnings would end up with Konecki.
There are some who are anxious about whether their divorce would be a nasty one, but it is not expected to be so. This is because the couple always has their son's interests in mind. A close source shared that the singer's life "revolves around him," and he is "everything" to her," since she gave birth to him six years ago in October 2012.
So she is always "five steps ahead" when considering how her decision will impact her child. It means then that the pop artist would be careful about what she does that may affect her son unduly.
