Prepare to be blown away by the season finale of Line of Duty season 5. The British police drama has been given an extended 90-minute treatment to wrap up its latest run.
According to BBC, Line of Duty season 5 episode 6 or the finale episode will be a 90-minute nail-biting spectacle. The episode will air on BBC One on Sunday, May 5, at 9:00 p.m.
Plot details to the Line of Duty season 5 finale have become a well-guarded secret as it may potentially reveal who is really behind H. While it may point to Superintendent Ted Hastings (played by Adrian Dunbar) as the likely suspect, it shouldn't be so easy for the fans to guess.
After the most recent episode of Line of Duty season 5, which aired on Sunday, April 29, viewers now have reason to believe that Hastings could have been framed. AC-3 started their investigations into Hastings after Fleming (played by Vicky McClure) and Arnott (played by Martin Compston) decided to report the alleged corruption.
Investigators Carmichael (played by Anna Maxwell-Martin), Brandyce (played by Laura Elphinstone) and Tranter (played by Natalie Gavin), however, found no evidence to prove his alibi. Kettle Belle Complex did not have any big withdrawals to supposedly pay him off and the police didn't find the bagman's fingerprints on the money given to him.
Carmichael was determined to get to the bottom of what Hastings was allegedly hiding but he claimed he was being framed. According to Radio Times, the real H could be the one steering this big whole distraction in Line of Duty season 5.
Metro stipulated that Carmichael may actually be H and because she had all the access to the case, it was easy to hide her tracks. Carmichael also had the drive to prove that Hastings is really behind the mysterious criminal in Line of Duty season 5. She's so determined to put the superintended behind bars perhaps to protect her real identity.
Meanwhile, Line of Duty has been confirmed for season 6 ahead of the show's season 5 return. The series about an anti-corruption unit in the British police is expected to air its next season in either 2020 or 2021.
"I have got an idea of how things will conclude or, more accurately, the kind of story we need to get into for that to be dramatized," Mercurio said via Telegraph before the show received a renewal confirmation. "Whereas if I know series five is not the last series then I have other ideas that are more standalone in terms of what the story is."
