The outside world up to this day is still clueless on the exact state of racing champ Michael Schumacher following his tragic skiing accident in 2013. What is clear, according to numerous reports, is that the once-dominant athlete's health condition remains largely unchanged. It appears that Schumi's stay on the sickbed continues indefinitely.

Schumacher turned 50 last January and that day also marked the over five years of medical battles that he and his family have been waging. In a report, The Sun indicated that the former world titlist remains in a semi-coma state due to the brain damage he suffered.

The champ has already incurred a whopping medical bill of more than $26 million and counting. Each week, Schumacher's family writes a check of no less than $100,000 to cover for his health care expenditures that include a 24/7 monitoring.

Per the same report from the British publication, Schumi in his current state requires full-timer caregivers that were tasked to keep him clean and to massage his muscles to prevent atrophy. Likewise part of the care routine is the constant turning of Schumacher on the bed, which is done to check the onset of bedsores.

These activities are happening, the daily added, in the Swiss mansion that the Schumacher family has acquired for the sportsman's recovery after his brain surgery. It was understood that the house was specifically picked in order to protect the family's privacy. Corinna, Michael's wife, and the couple's kids count as the constant companions of the patient.

The Schumacher family members are not losing hope that the day will come and Michael would be his old self again. The possibility of the F1 legend resuming what he does best before his fateful accident while skiing in the French Alps is still playing in their minds, the same report suggested.

Such hope was anchored on the notion that the racing driver has nowhere to go but to be healthy again since he is getting the best medical attention there is. On this, the family provided an update in a recent social media posting.

"You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him," the post stated.

The family, at the same time, brushed aside the rumors that Schumacher has been moved and now stays somewhere in Majorca, Spain. The stories too of the legendary driver being treated in the United States are purely speculative, according to sources close to the Schumacher family.
