A royal expert claims Queen Elizabeth II uniquely calls her clothes. Her Majesty is not referring to them as outfits, but instead, she calls them "costumes."
Former royal butler Paul Burrell claims Queen Elizabeth likes calling her clothes costumes - not outfits. This was revealed in the documentary Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers in Channel 5. He said that whenever Her Majesty asks about what to wear, she'll always say: "Which costume will I wear today?"
Burrell explained the reason why the Queen calls her clothes "costumes" is because she would always dress up like she's going on the royal stage to perform her duty. The documentary also featured designer David Emanuel - who designed the wedding dress of Princess Diana - and he also explained the looks of Her Majesty whenever there is a royal outing.
According to Emanuel, Queen Elizabeth always brings her kit with her, and it was usually packed with her working clothes. He said Her Majesty's diamonds could "out-dazzle" everybody and she considers them as her working wardrobe.
It's also worth mentioning that Queen Elizabeth is famous in choosing her clothes and always based them according to the occasions she would attend. Back in 1983, Her Majesty went to Los Angeles wherein she visited the 20th Century Fox film studios. During those times, the monarch chose to wear a gown emblazoned with the California poppy.
Also, when she made a state visit to Ireland back in 2011, Queen Elizabeth had a shamrock embroidered into her gown the time she attended a state dinner. The sleeves and bodice were also embellished with over 2,000 hand-sewn shamrocks as well. Moreover, Her Majesty's left shoulder had a Swarovski Celtic harp brooch.
According to a royal commentator, there's a reason why Queen Elizabeth had the shamrock embroidered on her gown. Her Majesty reportedly wore that because her engagement at that time was all about business. The Queen reportedly does not wear clothes "just for pleasure" - she wears them according to occasions, and they hold important meanings.
Meanwhile, in another report, the Queen made headlines after meeting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's firstborn, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Her Majesty met the latest addition to the royal family member, who's reportedly the seventh line to the throne, and she's wearing a blue coat and a floral printed skirt at that time.
In the photos, the monarch can be seen smiling from ear to ear, and her husband, Prince Philip was also there, as well as Markle's mother Doria Ragland.
