Many fans have been waiting for the release of The Winds of Winter novel since its first announcement in 2011. However, up to this writing, details about the imminent sixth A Song of Ice and Fire installment remain limited. Recently, George R.R. Martin lambasted internet journalism for continuously spreading lies and fabricated reports about his imminent book.
Since George R.R. Martin has kept mum about the details of The Winds of Winter book, some fans have started creating theories and predictions about the fate of the forthcoming book. A few suggested that the 70-year-old American writer could no longer finish the sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series because of his advanced age. Besides this, the complicated plot of TWOW is also predicted to contribute to its delay.
Another possible reason cited for the possible cancelation of The Winds of Winter is George R.R. Martin's hectic schedule. Most fans are aware that the veteran writer has been working on various projects such as the five Game of Thrones spinoffs. GRRM has, also, been traveling in several locations to attend events and conferences.
Despite this, some are very much positive that George R.R. Martin would be able to finish The Winds of Winter soon. In fact, he, previously, hinted that the sixth book of the A Song of Ice and Fire is, likely, to be released in "late 2018 or early 2019." However, that might not be the case since no signs of release have been seen until now.
Earlier this week, old rumors stating that George R.R. Martin completed writing The Winds of Winter already have gone viral anew. This is the same speculation that spread like wildfire years back. Aside from the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire book, it is also being claimed that A Dream of Spring is finished already. However, GRRM, allegedly, signed a "deal" with HBO not to release these two novels before the Game of Thrones series ends.
Normally, George R.R. Martin does not waste time commenting on these speculations. However, the said rumor caught the Nightflyers writer's attention this time. In a recent post on his "Not A Blog" online journal, GRRM debunked the claims and clarified that HBO did not ask him to delay the release of The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring novels.
"There is no 'deal' to hold back on the books," George R.R. Martin said about the allegations. "I assure you, HBO and David & Dan would both have been thrilled and delighted if THE WINDS OF WINTER had been delivered and published four or five years ago... and NO ONE would have been more delighted than me," The Winds of Winter author added.
George R.R. Martin, also, encouraged fans to only believe in what he says and quit buying these baseless and fabricated reports about the two remaining books of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. The veteran author, who is said to be working in an isolated cabin, has yet to reveal the official release date of TWOW.
