John Mayer and Kourtney Kardashian sparked romance rumors when they were spotted at a GQ party last year. Whispers and speculations have been floating around that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and the Gravity singer might be involved romantically, but nothing was confirmed or denied until now.
John Mayer finally responded to rumors that he and Kourtney Kardashian are dating. He addressed the speculation on Monday during a radio interview with his good friend Andy Cohen.
He said: "Yeah, that happens not to be true.” Mayer was then quick to explain that he has nothing against the famous family.
“Look, I actually like the Kardashians. If you break it down to your interactions with them, they’re very nice people," he shared. "So I think any objection to them is more philosophical, and I don’t really have a philosophical objection to people that I don’t get on with every day. Like, they’re very nice people.”
Although he fully denied dating Kourtney Kardashian, he did confirm that they met at a party. He told Cohen that he met the eldest sibling of the Kardashian/Jenner clan in the valet line of a GQ party he “kinda crashed” and that he was just saving her “from being in a video with the bass player from the Scorpions.”
After detailing their actual interaction at the party, it was quite clear that there was no flirting involved. Mayer also has a theory about how the whole romance rumor thing might have gotten started.
"I got to be honest with you, little suspicious about the origin of the story. I'm not sure the calls are not coming from inside the house on this one," he said. "I will say, if the call is coming from inside the house, it's diabolical and genius."
"When people start gossiping about you and someone else, and they start putting your picture together, it gets real suggestive," he added, referring to previous paparazzi coverage of the two together. "You're like, 'Well if I do then everything kind of falls into place because everyone is already putting us together.' So, it's a genius idea."
But for those who are hoping for a real John Mayer and Kourtney Kardashian romance in the future — don’t keep your hopes up. The singer revealed that he's not really into dating Hollywood stars anymore. "I just think I'm post-celebrity relationship, probably, in my life," Mayer said.
