The hit television series, Bull, just concluded its third season this week. But while the loyal fans of the show are very much happy to learn that the show is coming back for a new season, not everyone seems to be pleased with the network's decision.
As you may know, before the year 2019 enters, some of Bull's lead stars made the headlines due to unfortunate reasons. It came as a surprise to everyone that Eliza Dushku, who plays the role of J.P. Nunnelly, came out to the public and accused Michael Weatherly, who plays the lead role of Dr. Bull, harassed her sexually.
This event caused a lot of rage and anger from the public, especially to the fans. The audience thought that CBS would no longer renew the show after the third season concludes. But to everyone's surprise, the controversy did not stop the network from continuing the show and renewing it for another season.
In an interview with TV Line, Kelly Kahl, the CBS Entertainment President, seemed to defend Michael's side and explained why they decided to renew Bull for a new season. According to him, Michael Weatherly made a mistake. But he already owned it and apologize for his actions.
Kahl went on to further contend that Michael wants to move on from the past and that he made himself "open" to "coaching or training" that will help the set to create a more positive environment. And with his actions after the controversy, this made them decide that it just fits to renew the show.
While CBS sees it as a positive comeback for Michael Weatherly, not everyone is happy with the decision. And what's even worse is that Eliza Dushku revealed that she was "written off" from the show after coming out with the accusations. And her supposed regular role in the series was immediately put to an end.
On the network's behalf, they mentioned that there was a settlement between the two parties. They reported that Eliza Dushku received a sum of amount that "reflects" her supposed balance if she would have continued the show.
Afterward, no further comments have been made from the two parties. But quite interestingly, Bull's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, pulled out of production and withdrew his position from the show after CBS renewed it for its fourth season.
There were no words or reports given from his side. But there are claims that Steven Spielberg is a huge advocate of the #MeToo movement. Per reports, he sought Eliza Dushku's party after the controversy.
