The Flash Season 6 is about to feature the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover with Arrow Season 8. The two shows' latest season finales set the stage for one big problem that will affect the whole Arrowverse.
In Arrow, Oliver's (Stephen Amell) supposedly happy retirement was ruined by the Monitor when it said "the time had come to honor the bargain they struck in 'Elseworlds.'" In The Flash, there was a newspaper headline that read, "Flash Missing, Vanishes in Crisis," suddenly changed. The timeline has then altered that move up the Crisis to 2019 from 2024.
Although it seems unusual for the Arrowverse to set the stage for year-end crossovers, it only implies that the Crisis is a much bigger conflict that the fan-favorite heroes have to face. This problem will have a major impact on Arrow Season 8, The Flash Season 6, Supergirl Season 5, Legends of Tomorrow Season 5, and the directions it will take.
According to IGN, the Infinite Crisis crossover was published by DC in 2005 with four separated but connected miniseries, composed of Villains United, The Rann-Thanagar War, The OMAC Project, and Day of Vengeance. These four set the stage for the main Crisis that will be seen in the Arrowverse.
Fans will see Oliver, Barry (Grant Gustin), Kara (Melissa Benoist), and the rest of Arrowverse heroes doing a similar role. Arrow Season 8, The Flash Season 6, Supergirl Season 5, Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 have its own roles to play to set the stage for the big crossover.
The Flash Season 5 finale only featured Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) mourning the death of their daughter, Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy), instead of showing a major twist or introduce a new villain. The holographic newspaper headline seemed to be an enough hint where the show would lead to in The Flash Season 6.
The previous season's final episode showed that the future was about to change with Cicada's defeat. It might be the reason behind Nora's death and why the Crisis' date moved up. The timeline's change was said to be the start of The Flash Season 6.
The Flash Season 6 may use Cicada's defeat to start facing the new threats that come with the coming Crisis. Screen Rant reported the new season might be out in the fall, along with other shows that are part of the Arrowverse. However, things might be different from the exit of showrunner Todd Helbing and the coming of Eric Wallace.
