Orange Is The New Black season 7 is coming soon on Netflix, and this will be the final installment of the series. Based on Piper Kerman's memoir Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison, the female-led prison comedy-drama has become popular since its first release in 2013.
The release date of Orange Is The New Black season 7 has been officially confirmed, and it will return on Friday, July 26, on Netflix. All 13 episodes of the upcoming season will reportedly drop at once, and each will be an hour in length, just like the preceding seasons.
Aside from announcing the official release date of the final installment, Netflix also released some photos and a teaser video of women on the Litchfield, giving fans clues on what to expect. Based on the photos, the main cast will be back in Orange Is The New Black season 7.
So, fans can expect to see Taylor Schilling (Piper), Kate Mulgrew (Red), Uzo Aduba (Suzanne), Natasha Lyonne (Nicky), Laura Prepon (Alex), Jackie Cruz (Flaka), Danielle Brooks (Taystee), Adrienne C. Moore (Cindy), Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky), Dascha Polanco (Daya), Amanda Fuller (Madison/Badison), and Vicci Martinez (Daddy).
In season 6, there were some familiar faces missing or given less screen time since it focuses on life in the new supermax prison, where some of the inmates were sent to. But, in the recently released video, fans noticed that when Lyonne's character walked past a wardrobe, the costumes of Lea DeLaria (Boo), and Constance Schulman (Yoga Jones), and Elizabeth Rodriguez (Aledia) were hanging.
Orange Is The New Black season 7 will focus on Piper while she's trying to adjust her new life outside. She was released by the end of the sixth season, but her wife Alex remained behind bars. The final installment would probably focus on the institutional racism and corruption in the prison system - which has been highly commended for following its inception.
The immigration was also a major theme at the end of season 6, with the Immigration Crime Management buying and running the prison. Laura Gomez's character Blanca Flores was told she'd have an early release, but then, she was brought to an immigration detention center.
Meanwhile, Netflix hasn't yet released the official trailer of Orange Is The New Black season 7. The streaming platform only released a video featuring the main characters while singing the iconic theme song of the show.
Each of them member sang a line of Regina Spector's You've Got Time while the walk around the set Orange Is the New Black. Also, the clip released last year teased that the final season will be "unforgettable."
