Nurse Lucille (played by Leonie Elliot), on the other hand, will settle with her suitor Cyril (played by Zephryn Taitte). But with society changing, it's interesting to see how this couple navigates the times.

Nurse Valerie (played by Jennifer Dryer) will still be reeling from her traumatic experiences in Call the Midwife season 8, when she found out that her aunt was actually the backstreet abortionist who posed a danger for women and their babies. The Turner family's fate, on the other hand, will seem to turn around in general as Timothy (played by Max MacMillan) has a long and hard look at his future.

But before Call the Midwife season 9 airs, fans of the series will get to watch the cast embarking on a medical mission in a Scottish island in its special Christmas episode at the end of the year. It will be a different environment in Outer Hebrides since there are limited resources and access to electricity and water.
