Breaking News: Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo Devoice Rumors Come Ture, Song-Song Couple Ending Their Marriage
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have been so private about their relationship since they started dating in 2015. As a matter of fact, neither of the two Hally superstars had shared their real score when they were still filming the Descendants of the Sun. This is, also, the reason why many fans were surprised when the pair announced, in July 2017, their plans to tie the knot.
Dating rumors hounded Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo throughout the duration of the Descendants of the Sun. Avid followers of the show have been very vocal on how to Song-Song couple looks so good together in the small screens. Because of this, speculations about them having a romantic relationship, at the time, have spread like wildfire.
Before Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo exchanged their wedding vows, the Descendants of the Sun actress shared a letter for her fans online. The said post was Hye Kyo's announcement of her then-imminent wedding. She, also, shared how they got closer to each other in the letter.
"Joong Ki showed me his true self, trust, and his manners for a long time. I thought to myself that it would be good to spend the future with him and I was glad that he could feel my true emotions as well," Song Hye Kyo said about Song Joong Ki at the time. "That's when I knew that he was the one. I wanted to let my fans know first about the marriage but since this matter involves more than just me, I was extra careful about it," the Full House star went on.
During a press conference for The Battleship Island movie in 2017, Song Joong Ki talked about Song Hye Kyo for the first time since their marriage. In his statement, the 33-year-old actor confirmed that reports claiming that his wife refused to become a model of a Japanese brand as she, reportedly, opts to endorse the Korean culture and products instead.
"I first heard about it through the media. The first thought that came to my mind is a big applause to her," Song Joong Ki said about Song Hye Kyo's controversial decision. "I would have done the same it happen to me. I think it was a common sense. Now, she became the person I love, and now I am more proud of what she has done," the Descendants of the Sun actor went on.
Come May 2019, Song Joong Ki talked about Song Hye Kyo again during a press conference of his upcoming new television series titled Arthdal Chronicles. When asked what changed after he married the Encounter actress, Joong Ki said that everything remained the same. However, the actor said he gained "tranquility of the mind" since they tied the knot on Oct. 31, 2017.
Song Joong Ki, also, shared that Song Hye Kyo has been very supportive of him for Arthdal Chronicles. Joong Ki revealed that his wife has been a huge fan of director Kim Won Suk, who directed Signal, My Ahjussi, and Incomplete Life, and writers Park Sang Yeon and Kim Young Hyun, who were the brains behind the popular drama series like Six Flying Dragons, Tree with Deep Roots, and The Great Queen Seon Deok.
The most recent statement of Song Joong Ki about Song Hye Kyo seems to suggest that everything is fine between them amid the reports saying that they might have divorced already. Split rumors sparked after the two were sighted not wearing their wedding rings on separate occasions. However, the respective talent agencies of the Song-Song couple have, already, debunked the divorce rumors and stated that these are all fabricated and baseless.
Joong Ki is set to return to the small screens via tvN's Arthdal Chronicles series, which is set to premiere on June 1. Hye Kyo, on the other hand, will be doing another film with Chinese director Wong Kar Wai later this year.
