Netflix is expanding its original material offerings in recent times. The streaming giant has been seen to release materials that target not only the English-speaking community but also the non-English-speaking individuals. And recently, the newest addition in this line is the High Seas.
High Seas is a Spanish thriller series that largely focus on mysteries that happen in the middle of the sea. The premise follows two sisters, Carolina and Eva, as they embark on a prestigious and exquisite voyage from Spain to Brazil in the 1940s.
While looking forward to a safe and relaxing journey, the two shockingly faces a series of mysterious murders which eventually led them to find out several family secrets.
On May 24, High Seas premiered in full season. While having only a total of eight episodes, the pilot season was able to capture the attention of many. Accordingly, many are now asking if the series is already renewed for a new season.
As it happens, there are no official announcements yet as to whether High Seas is renewed or canceled for Season 2. And this is only fitting considering that the show just premiered a few days ago.
If you would recall, Netflix typically announces the series’ renewal updates a month or two after the initial premiere. So, there is a huge chance that official renewal updates will be given to the public between June and July. And probably the latest in August.
Even so, there is already news in Spain recently that High Seas has been officially renewed for a new season.
Just a few days ago, the prominent news organization in the country, Marca, already confirmed the series’ second installment. They have already made it known that the next season is now in the process of filming.
Also, one of the lead actresses in the series also hinted what would happen when the new season arrives. And according to the latest revelations, the upcoming season will run its course in a more different setting and tone than what it offered during the pilot run.
It is very likely that the series will pick up from where it last left off since the first season ended with a lot of loose strings and cliffhangers.
But all in all, these are the only updates that have been shared about the show. And unless otherwise stated, the status of the Spanish series will remain unknown.
