From JoJo Siwa and Chloe Lukasiak, being an alum of Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) studios have brought them enhancement of their dancing skills and an opportunity for them to be a celebrity if they work really hard. Since not all reality shows can bring someone to instant fame, having been chosen to be under the elite dance training of Abby Lee Miller is something that every mother dreamt of.
That is why, as the new season of Dance Moms comes this June, it will be another scene wherein children and mothers will go through dance challenges and occasional bickering of mothers.
Dance Moms Season 8 returns after two years from its last aired episode of Season 7 on October 24, 2017. And after all the personal challenges that Abby Lee Miller has gone through, she is back to make her students "be professional, employable working dancers.
When the show debuted on July 31, 2011, the show initially was shot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania wherein contestants aged 12-16 are then traveled week-to-week to various dance competitions as they win awards because of the skillful choreography of Miller and her staff. It has been a hit show because of the drama and conflict among Miller and the doting mothers while at the same, viewers were able to see how each girl develop and improve their dancing skills.
Dance Moms Season 8 will have new sets of students, hungry for knowledge and new skills and this time, the professional dance instructor, Abby Lee Miller will guide them to their favored fame. As previously mentioned, it takes hard work, talent and a loyal fan base to move up to where JoJo Siwa, Chloe Lukasiak, Mackenzie Ziegler and a lot more but without the strictness of their dance coach, the girls would not be motivated to be at their best. Even the mothers have their own battles to fight as they are faced with a variety of attitudes from other mothers who wants to prove that their daughters are the best, of course.
Because of the personal struggles of Abby Lee Miller from previous years, the new season will start off with a special one-hour episode about what she has gone through. From her court trials in June 2016 where she pleaded guilty to felony bankruptcy fraud, Miller has to serve a sentence of one year and a day in a federal prison starting May 2017.
The 53-year old owner of Reign Dance Productions was then diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma, as it will show her journey to healing, from chemotherapy and learning to regain the use of her legs amidst her ongoing cancer battle.
In July 2018, Abby Lee Miller announced her return for Season 8 of Dance Moms as she will also be "returning back to her roots" by moving the show back to Pittsburgh, the same studio where it all started in 2011, from Los Angeles where the team relocated in Season 5. The new set of students namely Elliana Walmsley, Brady Farrar, Hannah Colin, Kamryn Smith, GiaNina Paolantonio, Lilliana Ketchman, Pressley Hosbach, Savannah and Sarah are already skillful in their own ways as they come together with their moms.
Abby Lee Miller will showcase their premature talents as they fight for coveted spots on her elite Abby Lee Dance Company team, while their moms will feud among themselves in big, behind-the-scenes drama.
