The reaction to the cancellation of The Ranch has been pretty strong as fans are threatening to cancel their Netflix subscriptions. However, it looks like the most powerful reaction to the news comes from a former member of the main cast. Danny Masterson has just learned that the show is down to its final season. Interestingly, the star of That '70s Show is teasing at Jameson 'Rooster' Bennett's possible return in The Ranch Season 4.
It was confirmed by lead star Ashton Kutcher that The Ranch Season 4 would be the final one for the sitcom. Additionally, it would be split into two parts, Part 7 and Part 8. Kutcher made the announcement on Twitter, confirming that the first 10 episodes will air on Netflix later in 2019. The last 10 episodes would then premiere sometime in 2020.
So what could happen in the fourth season? The series could deal with Colt Bennett and Abby Phillips' possible separation, something that Abby brought up in the previous season finale. Season 4 could also reveal what will happen to Luke Matthews after he decided to stay with Mary Roth despite Colt's advice. But is there any chance that Mary's ex will return in the last 20 episodes? Danny Masterson seems to be hinting at wanting to return to the show.
Danny Masterson recently left an interesting comment on a post about the show's cancellation of the official The Ranch Instagram account. "That Rooster Bennett was a real hoot. Sure do miss that guy..." he wrote. Not surprisingly, fans reacted to the comment, begging Masterson to return to the Netflix series.
Although it would be great to see Masterson reunited with the cast of The Ranch, it's highly unlikely that Rooster could return to the show. After all, Rooster was written off the series when his motorcycle went off the side of the road and his body was never found. There is a possibility that Rooster may have survived the accident but there's another reason why Masterson might not be invited back in the final season.
Masterson was fired from The Ranch after he was accused by multiple women of sexual assault. The former That '70s Show repeatedly denied the allegations but was still removed from the series since it happened at the height of the #MeToo movement. Unfortunately, bringing Masterson back might reflect poorly on the final season.
The Ranch Season 4 (Part 7) has not yet been given an official premiere date. Nevertheless, it is expected to air on Netflix before the end of 2019.
