The 2019 Emmy is right around the corner, and HBO has submitted its ballot for some categories. It looks like Game of Thrones Season 8 will dominate the nominations, but as it is now released; fans have a lot of feelings about it.
The most complained and controversial episode, "The Iron Throne," will take its chance on the award's night, along with other hated installments. The penultimate episode, "The Bells," where Drogon and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) went killing-spree, is nominated for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program, Outstanding Special Visual Effects, and Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.
The Game of Thrones Season 8 Finale, on the other hand, is on the Outstanding Cinematography For A Single-Camera Series category, along with "The Last of the Starks" and "The Long Night."
"The Iron Throne," "The Last of the Starks," and "The Long Night" are also up for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is nominated for Outstanding Hairstyling For a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Cinematography For A Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Directing For A Documentary/Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Picture Editing For a Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Sound Editing For a Nonfiction Program (Single Or MultiCamera), and Outstanding Sound Mixing For a Nonfiction Program (Single or MultiCamera).
HBO casts "The Long Night" for Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour). It is also on Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series category along with "The Iron Throne" and "Winterfell."
Also, "The Iron Throne" is nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Game of Thrones: Fight for the Living is on the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media within a Scripted Program category.
Game of Thrones lead star Kit Harington is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while Clarke is for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Alfie Allen, Pilou Asbaek, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, and Richard Dormer are nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category.
For Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series are Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams. Lastly, Carice Van Houten is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
With the six episodes HBO has to choose from, it didn't include the much-praised Game of Thrones Season 8 episode "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," where Jaime (Coster-Waldau) knighted Brienne (Christie).

The Game of Thrones ballots HBO submitted will be used to narrow down submission to final nominees. The nominations will be announced on July 16, while the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 23.
