It cannot be denied that Song Joong Ki is considered as one of the most sought-after actors of his generation. The 33-year-old Hallyu superstar became a household name when was paired with now-wife Song Hye Kyo in the 2016 hit television series titled Descendants of the Sun. Just a few weeks after his official come back in the South Korean television, it was revealed that Joong Ki is set to work on another project next month.
Business Times, previously, broke the news about Song Joong Ki doing a film with Kim Tae Ri. Reports have it that the husband of Song Hye Kyo will star in a new sci-fi movie that centers on the story of a group of astronauts that travel in the solar system. Director Jo Sung Hee will direct the imminent new film titled Lightning Ship.
"For the first time in Korean movie history, ['Lightning Ship'] will be a sci-fi blockbuster that will show a story and graphics that were never seen before against the backdrop of an endless space," an unnamed insider revealed about the forthcoming new movie of Song Joong Ki. Lightning Ship is going to be the comeback movie project of Song Hye Kyo's real-life partner since The Battleship Island in 2017.
Spoilers claimed that Song Joong Ki would portray the role of Tae Ho Who. The character of Song Hye Kyo's husband is a commoner, who remains poor even if he works very hard to improve his current economic status. Kim Tae Ri, on the other hand, would play as Sun Jang. She would lead the Lightning Ship.
Beside Song Joong Ki and Kim Tae Ri, other stars who would appear on the upcoming film include Yoo Hae Jin and Jin Seon Kyu, who will play as Tiger Park. This is going to be their first movie with Song Hye Kyo's better half. Hae Jin, previously, appeared on Malmoe: The Secret Mission, 1987, A Taxi Driver, Confidential Assignment, and Luck-Key. Seon Kyu, for his part, starred in Extreme Job and The Outlaws.
No other details about the forthcoming new movie have been made public as of yet. However, it was revealed that Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Jin Seon Kyu, Yoo Hae Jin, and the rest of the cast would start filming in July.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki made another milestone in his career recently. Reports suggested that the husband of Song Hye Kyo has become one of the most talked about South Korean stars when his new television series titled Arthdal Chronicles premiered on tvN and Netflix. It was revealed that the fourth episode of the epic fantasy drama got the highest viewership ratings since its release.
