When Succession first arrived on HBO last year, the critical reception was not entirely positive. In fact, the pilot premiere was deemed as a very "slow start" for an HBO material as per Entertainment Weekly.

But as the show progresses, it showed an increasing trend when it comes to its viewership ratings and receptions. And by the end of the first season, Succession has become one of the top performing materials on HBO.

Accordingly, the network is now expecting that the new season will encourage and attract more audience to watch the show. And based on the current hype, it seemingly appears that a lot of people are actually waiting for its arrival.

Fortunately, Succession Season 2 is about to arrive. It has been announced already that the new installment will premiere this August.

While many of the avid fans were hoping for a June release, the recently released official trailer ended all speculations and theories about its new season arrival. But even so, there is no specific date yet as to when it will actually premiere.

In terms of its plot and storyline, the new season is set to start where it last left off. This is apparently the speculation of the fandom due to the cliffhangers left by the first season finale. And this has been established when the trailer finally dropped a few days ago.

As it appears, Kendall's secret will be the focal point of Succession Season 2 as hinted by Vulture based on the trailer. This is just fitting considering the fact that this is where the pilot season finale left the fans hanging.

But aside from the new Kendall-Logan partnership, the battle for succession among the family will still prevail. Besides, the series creator, Jesse Armstrong, blatantly shared that the show's title will still be the suitable name for the material as it will center on the subject of succession.

On another note, the new season is reportedly featuring a new big rival in the plot. According to Variety, Holly Hunter has joined the cast of Succession Season 2 to play the recurring role of Rhea Jarrell.

Rhea, who is a "politically savvy CEO" of another media conglomerate, will be the rival of the Roy family. And as the family faces the main challenges of retaining control and power over the industry, things will certainly be much more complicated as a new big player enters the scene.
