The YG Entertainment trainee who was identified as the whistleblower in the expose against former iKON leader B.I's drug controversy is planning to turn the tables against the journalist who made her name public without her permission.
Han Seo Hee, who was identified as the "A" in the Kakao Talk conversation wherein former iKON leader B.I was inquiring how to purchase marijuana and LSD in 2016, has recently stated on her Instagram account that she is flustered and scared of the backlash that the expose has caused, All Kpop reported.
According to her lawyer Bang Jung Hyun, his client is mulling the filing of charges against the journalist who identified her as the whistleblower who went to authorities to accuse YG of covering up B.I's alleged drug use.
"The whistleblower's name was revealed without permission. We intend to determine which channels were used to obtain and report this information about the whistleblower," Han Seo Hee's lawyer said in his statement.
As the expose on B.I's attempt to purchase drugs came to light, it also became public that "A," the person on the other end of the conversation approached the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to report B.I to authorities was YG trainee Han Seo Hee. Han reportedly accused authorities on not acting on her report and letting the YG artist get off on his involvement with drugs.
This was not the first time that Han Seo Hee's name was involved in drug issues as she was also identified as the YG trainee involved in BIG BANG T.O.P's marijuana scandal in 2017 for which she received four years of probation, a fine of 800,000 won and mandatory 120 hours of drug counseling. While her name immediately became public in the earlier case, her lawyer claimed that this time, she was unprepared to be revealed as the whistleblower so early into the case.
After authorities were flooded with criticism for their reported inaction on the B.I drug controversy, it was revealed by a KBS report that police filed an investigative report on the case and forwarded it to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor did not pursue charges and are now being criticized for allowing Han Seo Hee to leave the country after her revelation. They have also received backlash for not pursuing charges after the reports of the investigation.
