It will still be a long wait for Wonder Woman 1984 since the highly anticipated film has been moved to a 2020 release. However, it looks like the plot for the DC Extended Universe flick has been leaked ahead of its premiere. Interestingly, it reveals that Diana Prince has been quite busy since the first World War. In addition to that, there are surprising details about the villainous Cheetah and Maxwell Lord as well as the strange return of Steve Trevor.

It has already been confirmed that Wonder Woman 1984 will take place during the Cold War in the 1980s although Diana Prince's new mission has not yet been revealed. However, a new report points out that the Amazonian princess will be acting as spy hunting down a "nefarious" Russian agent. Additionally, Diana is also working as a full-time superhero during this period. This is how she catches the interest of Barbara Minerva.

According to the report, Barbara Minerva is a huge fan of Wonder Woman and hopes to be just like her idol. To achieve her goal, she gets help from Maxwell Lord, who manages to give her the power she wants. Unfortunately, things don't work out too well for Cheetah. Although she is initially a hero, she eventually succumbs to her beast side and becomes the bad guy in the film.

But what's the deal with Maxwell Lord? The leak reveals that there might be something truly magical about the character. The film may have changed Maxwell's comic book powers from being able to control other people's minds to have the ability to make their wishes come true. This could be how he manages to turn Barbara from an ordinary woman to a powerful heroine with a dark side.

Interestingly, it is this particular power that could explain the unexpected return of Steve Trevor. Although the character was killed off in the 2017 movie, Chris Pine is set to reprise the role in Wonder Woman 1984. This could be because Maxwell Lord fulfilled Diana's wish to see her beloved once again. But is this truly Steve or has Maxwell simply transferred his soul into Steve's body?

All the questions about the sequel could finally be answered when the first Wonder Woman 1984 trailer is released. Unfortunately, the teaser might be dropped sometime in December since Warner Bros. will not be present at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con this year. Nevertheless, fans can expect the DC flick to hit theaters on June 5, 2020.
