The CW already confirmed there would be Legacies season 2, yet there were only a few details about it. But recently, the official release date of the teen drama has already been confirmed by the network. Here's also what we know so far about the upcoming installment.

It was initially noted that Legacies season 2 would arrive on The CW this coming autumn, which will fall around October. That speculation was indeed true as the release date of the show has been officially confirmed, and it is set to come back on Thursday, October 10. It can also be recalled that the previous installment premiered in October 2018, so the series has just followed the same release date pattern.

Right now, the cast members of Legacies season 2 remain unpredicted, but many are hoping all the main characters will return. So if ever, Danielle Rose Russell will reprise her role as Hope Mikaelson, alongside Matt Davies as Alaric Saltzman and Candice King as Caroline Forbes.

Other cast members expected to return include Aria Shahghasemi as Landon, Quincy Fouse as Milton MG Gladstone, and Alex Smith as Rafael. Also, Kaylee Brant (as Josie Salesman), Karen David (Emma Tig), Jenny Boyd (Lizzie Salesman), and Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert) will all likely be back in the second installment. It was also confirmed that there would be a new vampire in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the plot of Legacies season 2 is unknown as well. The teen drama follows the story of Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) and Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) who are both from The Originals universe. The show was also set two years after the events that happened in The Originals and focused on Hope's first year at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

So, the plot of the second installment would likely follow Hope in her second year. As per showrunner Julie Plec, she hopes that viewers would love the "familiarity" and the "nostalgia" the show brings and would appreciate how they bring new feels compared to what they have done before.

Plec also said they are pushing humor a lot harder in Legacies, so they're embracing their inner comedians to bring more fun in the show - which they reportedly didn't do in the past. Meanwhile, the trailer for Legacies season 2 wasn't released as well, but it's a little bit early right now so it would possibly drop when the release date is nearer.
