Read at your own risks: This article contains major spoilers for Poldark Season 5.
It has been almost a year ever since Poldark wrapped up its fourth season. Having only a total of eight episodes in the course, the latest season was able to cover the sixth and seventh books of the novels that carry the same title.
Sadly, the whole fandom witnessed how Elizabeth and Osborne met their respective demises on the fourth season. Accordingly, it is very likely that the two characters will no longer play a part in the upcoming season of Poldark.
Even so, the fans have remained hopeful that the two will still be seen on some parts of the fifth season. And this will be only possible if there will be flashbacks on the course of the plot.
As for the returnees, all of the main characters will surely be seen on Poldark Season 5. Besides, it has been already revealed that it will serve as the final installment for the historical series on the network as per Good Housekeeping.
While the novels have a total of 12 books, it looks like the show will not be able to cover all of these installments. There are speculations already that the upcoming season will be based and adapted from the eighth book titled, The Stranger From The Sea.
But in following the patterns that the show has been applying since its pilot season, it is highly possible that the plot of the fifth season will also include storylines from the ninth and tenth books with titles, The Miller's Dance and The Loving Cup, respectively.
Not to mention, the production has finally released the synopsis of the final season. And it seemingly appears that the plot will start at the beginning of the 1800s according to Cartermatt.
But as you may know, the events that happened in the eighth book only started in 1810. Hence, many are theorizing that the plot will deviate its course a little from the novels to give justice to what had happened on the 10-year gap since Poldark Season 4 ended in 1799.
Even so, things will surely be so much more interesting when the new season arrives. And whatever the case may be for its plot, the show will certainly keep its fans and viewers entertained and thrilled throughout the final season.
As for its release date, there has been no confirmed date yet. But since they have already revealed that it is coming this summer season, (and June is already fading away), it is highly possible that Poldark Season 5 will premiere in July, on BBC One.
