One of the most intriguing things about the Star Wars sequel trilogy is the undeniable connection between the two main characters. The connection between Rey and Kylo Ren has been teased upon since Star Wars: The Force Awakens but has never been truly explained. But is it possible that things will finally fall into place in Star Wars Episode 9? A new theory suggests that the true connection between Rey and Kylo will be revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

There are several theories about how Rey might be connected to Kylo Ren. Before the premiere of The Force Awakens, people believed that Rey might be related to Ben Solo and that she might be the daughter of Luke Skywalker. However, it was then revealed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that the girl from Jakku is just another Force user who was sold by her parents. Nevertheless, a new Star Wars Episode 9 theory purports that there could be a greater connection between Rey and Kylo that is more than blood.

The theory suggests that Rey and Kylo Ren "are two halves of one whole" in that they represent the Force itself. While Rey represents the Light Side, Kylo symbolizes the Dark Side of the Force. The post further points out how Rey's powers were seemingly awakened when Kylo succumbed further into the Dark Side. It is also stated that Rey appeared to be most powerful after Kylo killed Han Solo although she had no previous training.

It's certainly a compelling argument when most of Rey and Kylo Ren's interactions always seem to result in things splitting in half. For instance, the ground below then was torn apart when they fought in The Force Awakens. In addition to that, Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber broke apart after they both tried to claim it in The Last Jedi. It's a strong symbolism that may continue in Star Wars Episode 9.

But how will it all end for the two characters? There is a possibility that Kylo Ren will die in The Rise of Skywalker but will live on in Rey. However, before his death, Ben Solo will be redeemed after everything he went through in the previous two movies.

It's an interesting idea but also one that has not yet been confirmed. In the meantime, it is best to take it with a grain of salt. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
